The Allstar Refjudzi Band and Archa Theatre from Prague – in residence at City of Asylum in June, 2014 – are seeking musicians, actors, dancers, performers, and volunteers with open hearts and open minds to participate in creating and performing in a musical/theatrical event based on stories from within Pittsburgh’s refugee communities. Volunteers of all skill levels are sought to participate: Whether you play an instrument, like to sing, enjoy acting, or want to help with sets and costumes, you can be part of this unique community-based artist residency in June, with free performances on June 28 and 29.

Interested actors, singers, instrumentalists, performers should attend an informational meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6:00 p.m. at City of Asylum, 330 Sampsonia Way, on the Northside. Representatives from the Allstar Refjudzi Band and Archa Theater will be on hand to discuss the project. Allstar Refjudzi Band is part of Archa Theater, one of the Czech Republic’s leading theaters and a center for cutting-edge dramatic, musical and performance art. Led by American musician Michael Romanyshyn, the band combines music of different styles and from various cultural sources. The Allstar Refjudzi Band is characterized by its unusual and surprising instrumentation, and its unique outlook, which permits expression of the world’s most important problems with humor and irony.
