City of Asylum House Publications
City of Asylum rehabilitates houses on Pittsburgh’s Northside for use by writers-in-residence, and commissions a public artwork that incorporates a literary text for the façade of each house. City of Asylum calls this process house-publishing.
Thus far, five houses — House Poem, Winged House, Pittsburgh-Burma House, Jazz House, and Comma House— have been published. Additional houses have been rehabbed for use by resident and visiting writers. Eventually, this area will be transformed into a public library of published houses that can be read while walking down the street.
