Kente Arts Alliance meets Thursday Night Jazz for this final concert in a sensational series of summer shows.
Howie Alexander and Company play the final installment of the Kente Summer Madness Concert Series. Kicking off the vibes as always is DJ Bus Crates, a DJ, musician, and vinyl junkie from Pittsburgh who has made great strides internationally. Though he travels frequently, his roots are firmly planted in his hometown.
After Bus Crates’ set, we welcome Howie Alexander to the stage. Howie has a constant presence on the local music scene. He grew up in Pittsburgh in a home filled with jazz and R&B. Through years of piano study, his music interests have expanded. He has played with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Ciaro, Poogie Bell, Roger Humphries and the great Stanley Turrentine. He performs as a sideman or headliner at concert venues from Pittsburgh to Monaco. Howie currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Afro-American Music Institute in Homewood.
Doors will open at 6pm for the pre-show happy hour with DJ Bus Crates. The concert will begin at 7pm.
