Is it possible to “hear” a view of the Cathedral of Learning? Are there other “grand view avenues” in town? What might they sound like? Can the work of an artist or the memory of a friend be conjured through a piece of music?
These questions propelled composer and saxophonist Scott Boni to craft his latest suite of compositions, which attempts to capture the essence of myriad Pittsburgh vistas and personalities through music. This concert will feature all original compositions by Scott Boni in what will be his first performance as a bandleader at City of Asylum. Selections include “Three Views from the Cathedral” (inspired by the Cathedral of Learning) and “One Shot” (inspired by photographer Teenie Harris).
