ConverSing with Anita Levels

April 13, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT

City of Asylum is excited to host vocal artist, voice influencer, songwriter, and producer Anita Levels’ debut presentation of “ConverSing.” “ConverSing” is a presentation of thought, conversation, and music, which explores the origins of jazz music from the Black American experience and how it has evolved to be an international phenomena.

About the Artist:

Anita Levels (she/her) loves spreading the good news of Black American music (blues, jazz, rock and roll, hip hop, soul, funk) which is American music. As a Texas-born preacher’s kid and a member of a musical family from New Orleans, Louisiana, singing and performance are in Anita’s blood. Her powerhouse, soulful, but lark-like vocals have graced national and international audiences. She has a master’s degree in Training and Development from Carlow University and believes that instrumentation and the voice have the innate ability to vibrate truth, healing, and thought. Anita’s more recent venture is Corn and Potatoes Are Good For You, a podcast exploring the soul’s journey through all things spiritual and sensual. She will always put clorox in her water, powder her sheets, season her vittles, sing, laugh, cultivate spaces for communication and thought, and be the mother of two magical daughters.

Featured Musicians:

Anita Levels: vocals

Dr. James Johnson: keys

Calvin Stemley: sax

Terry Levels: drums

Glyn Loyd: bass
