World class Jazz. No cover charge. Only at City of Asylum.
In this eclectic and exciting Thursday Night Jazz performance, we welcome The Precipice Community Band. Their music is tied to a “weird-fiction”-esque parallel world called The Precipice, a mysterious woodland realm that infects all those who stay too long. The band plays experimental jazz that is heavily influenced by Caribbean and African-diasporic sounds, blended with an indie pop sensibility. They also draw on Aruban heritage, focusing on the grooves and dance styles there and in the Caribbean and West Indies at large. Synthesizing music with film and other multimedia elements, The Precipice Community Band transports the listener to a permanent twilight that beckons the “friendly experiencer” with both dark pastoral beauty and a dangerous beyond.
