

This December, we are excited to welcome Pittsburgh-based saxophonist Yoko Suzuki back to the Alphabet City stage for a Thursday Night Jazz performance featuring the work of Shirley Scott. Yoko’s band will perform Shirley’s music with arrangements by Cliff Barnes, James Johnson III, and Yoko herself.
Shirley Scott was an American jazz organist. Her music was noted for its mixture of bebop, blues, and gospel elements. She was known by the nickname “Queen of the Organ.”
