How to apply for a City of Asylum® Exiled Writer Residency
Any writer who, in their country of permanent residence, is threatened or persecuted for expressing their opinions or ideas through literary work is invited to apply for an Exiled Writer Residency. Applications must be submitted directly to the International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN). Please note that we do not accept candidates who advocate violence in any form.
To apply, please visit ICORN’s application portal.
City of Asylum is not a refugee organization; we do not have the resources to immediately remove a writer from a threatening situation. We have no authority or influence with government organizations and must abide by the laws and regulations of each country. We cannot guarantee placement in our programs. Therefore it is extremely important that all applicants pursue every option for safety available to them.
