One of the true modern masters of the trombone, Frank Rosolino was an equally great composer. Following the lead of trombonist J.J. Johnson and others, Rosolino developed a highly personal, technically dazzling style that secured his place in the music’s history. In this program, trombonist Jeff Bush—winner of the 1999 Frank Rosolino Memorial Scholarship— will be featured in a concert full of Rosolino originals, along with other compositions that were part of his vast repertoire.
Featured Musicians:
Jeff Bush: trombone
Paul Thompson: bass
Thomas Wendt: drums
Dr. Alton Merrell: piano
