Help Us Meet a New $50,000 Challenge
Thanks to the extraordinary response from our community, we reached our original $75,000 goal a month before the deadline!
That response has inspired two of the donors behind the original match to offer an additional $50,000 challenge:
- If we raise $25,000 in additional funds by August 31, the donors will match it with $25,000.
- If we raise $50,000 in additional funds by August 31, the donors will match it with $50,000.
We have raised $20,464 towards the additional $50,000 challenge.

Freedom of creative expression is under growing threat around the world. Your support provides sanctuary to persecuted writers while ensuring Pittsburgh remains a place where ideas can be shared freely.
Today, six writers and their families live safely in Pittsburgh through City of Asylum, the world’s largest sanctuary for exiled writers.
Unlike every other sanctuary program of its kind, City of Asylum is sustained by foundations and individuals like you—not governments or universities. You make this work possible.

- Protect freedom of creative expression by ensuring persecuted voices continue to be heard.
- Present more than 120 free literary, music, and community programs each year.
