This is a virtual only program hosted via City of Asylum @ Home.
Film historian and writer Wil Haygood visits City of Asylum virtually to discuss his newest book “Colorization: One Hundred Years of Black Films in a White World.” Wil is joined conversation by Pittsburgh filmmaker and activist Emmai Alaquiva.
Named a New York Times and NPR best book of 2021, Colorization examines 100 years of Black cinema, using the struggles and triumphs of the artists, and the films themselves, as a prism to explore Black culture, civil rights, and racism in America.
