Fan favorite jazz series Off Minor returns this September with an ode to Buddy DeFranco. After growing up in the swing era of the 1930s, Boniface Ferdinand Loenard “Buddy” DeFranco was highly influenced by Charlie Parker and the new music of the 1940s. By the 1950s, he was one of the only true BeBop clarinetists adapting the instrument to this technically demanding style. Clarinetist Paul Cosentino will be featured in an evening of DeFranco originals, as well as Jazz standards he recorded during his incredible career.
Featured Musicians:
Paul Cosentino: clarinet
Antonio Croes: piano
Paul Thompson: bass
Thomas Wendt: drums
